The Savory Institute (SI), an International, US based, non-profit, announced that it has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Uruguay Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries (MGAP) to collaborate in advancing their common mission of regenerating grasslands and soil health, enhancing soil carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and the water cycle through the holistic management of the country’s natural resources and the development of aligned policies.
SI’s local implementation partner in Uruguay is Pampa Oriental, which received accreditation by the institute to serve as a local Hub for ecological, social and financial regeneration through HM education, training, monitoring, and consulting services, as well as identifying opportunities for producers to enter the Savory Land to Market program for meat, leather, wool, dairy and ecosystem services.

Savory Institute will co-fund with charitable support the setup of Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) in four ecoregions and the capacity building of a core team of Accredited Professionals, Verifiers, and monitors. The EOV methodology measures the tangible regenerative benefits occurring on the land, positioning producers to access the Land to Market marketspace, while also providing valuable data back to farmers to improve their practices.
The Savory Institute is partnering with local organizations worldwide to equip and support a global network of 100 Savory Institute affiliated hubs by 2025 working with farmers, ranchers and pastoralists interested in regenerating their land. Pampa Oriental was one of the 2019 Hub Candidates which included organizations from Germany, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Colombia, Brazil, and the United States.
