Land to Market Verifies Onda Wellness as First Hemp Partner

First Land to Market Verified CBD Oil in Partnership with First Crop from Verified Regenerative Land

Entering into new cropping systems, seeking to be the leader in all land-based regenerative agriculture

Boulder, CO (May 18, 2021) — Land to Market, the world’s first verified sourcing solution for regenerative agriculture is pleased to welcome Boulder, Colorado-based, Onda Wellness, as a member of Land to Market, and verify its first hemp CBD oil products, with hemp sourced from Casad Family Farms, which is verified as regenerating through the Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV.)

Although Land to Market is best known for its impact in categories such as meat, dairy, wool, leather, and cashmere, the program currently has pilots in development for hemp, viticulture, fruit and berry production, cotton, small grain and almonds. “The partnership between Onda Wellness and Casad Family Farms is one of our favorite success stories,” said Chris Kerston, co-leader of Land to Market. “We are working with crops as a pilot where animals are mixed in as a polyculture. The idea is to mimic nature, and nature is always using plants and animals working together. When livestock are built into the cropping system, it makes for a better return on investment, resulting in land that’s healthier, more resilient, and more productive,” continued Kerston.

Three of Onda’s hemp CBD oil tinctures are now verified to meet Land to Market’s regenerative agriculture standards and are now available to purchase online on Onda’s website.

With a mission to heal people, empower farmers, and support the regeneration of the Earth, Onda Wellness is striving to create an alternative path away from conventional, commodity farming and corporate industrial agriculture and towards regenerative agriculture, paving the way for a higher standard in the herbal wellness industry. “The concept of “sustainable” just isn’t enough anymore,” said Stephen Smith, Founder & CEO of Onda Wellness. “We are past the point of sustaining on this Planet. We need not just neutral existence, but proactive and beneficial action and participation from all beings to try to heal the degradation of the Earth. We support farming that considers the long-term benefits of building soil health, restoring ecosystems and producing nutrient dense food and herbal medicine,” continued Smith.

Based in Jefferson County, Oregon, Casad Family Farms grows the organic hemp that becomes the cannabidiol or hemp CBD ingredient in Onda’s products. Farm co-owner, Cate Havstad Casad, sees the partnership with Onda as a way to help steer the cannabis production in the right direction, towards a holistic approach to production, which may result in regenerative outcomes. “Biodiversity in a farming system is key; we strive to have a holistic mixture of animals and rotational annual/ perennial cropping working together to build soil integrity and create positive ecological outcomes,” said Casad. “Prior to hemp being planted, our plot would have a diverse cover crop mix planted, which the cattle graze, and through the winter we bale fed the cattle through the field. The cover crops restore nutrients to the soil during the growing season, and the cattles’ presence through the winter added valuable fertilization, beneficial bacteria, and fungi through their rumination and digestive process of the organic hays we feed them through the winter, ” continued Casad.

Incubated within the Savory Institute, the program’s Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) protocol and Land to Market Verified seal has attracted more than 50 of the world’s leading brands seeking to make an impact on the climate crisis by restoring the land via measurable outcomes.
