Course description:
This is an in-depth course in which participants are equipped on how to train, mentor, and mobilize communities for Holistic Land and Livestock Management. In this course you will learn more about the fundamental building blocks of Holistic Management which are critical for the successful implementation of Holistic Management. The four key insights, the ecosystem processes and the tools to manage them, and the decision-making process that in turn guides management. It also unpacks the mobilisation tool used by ACHM which is the Community Action Cycle with seven phases: prepare to mobilise, organise the community for action, explore land and water restoration issues & set priorities, plan, act, evaluate together and prepare to scale up. This course covers all the Holistic management modules, such as Holistic financial planning, Land & Social Planning, Holistic planned grazing, Herding to a grazing plan, Herd management and Biological land monitoring.
Participants will interact with the nearest community that is practising Holistic Land and Livestock Management to hear their success stories, benefits and challenges in implementing the Holistic Land and Livestock programme.
